Instead

IMG_1688

“There once was a lass named Athena,
Who came from a farm near Galena…”

I stumbled on to a strange path long ago,
Lost in more ways than one,
Faced with a life that terrified and confused.

She leaned against the fence and just watched, amused.
That was irritating.
“Which way should I go?” I finally snapped.
Then she did this, pointing in the most enchanting way.
I, seeing the possibilities of such flexibility, smiled. She smiled back.
In that instant, other things were no longer important,
And I knew we would journey on, at least
part of the way, together.
We still are.
