A Stoic’s Monday

“In the morning when thou risest unwillingly, let this thought be present – I am rising to the work of a human being. Why then am I dissatisfied if I am going to do the things for which I exist and for which I was brought into the world?”

  1. Marcus Aurelius is a name in my from the occasional quote over time, but you have awoken me to words that sound so clear. I do think it’s the logical side of his words but they are interwoven with a graceful beauty. Thank you for sharing them. xo, Jayne

    1. I’m glad you found something in them. I should know better, but it still is a pleasant surprise to find out that we moderns aren’t all that different from the ancients in the kinds of challenges we face. Or maybe I should be discouraged that we haven’t figured things out yet? 🙂
